Abstract / Zusammenfassung

In the northeastern part of Germany (Mecklenburg) soils under different types of landuse were investigated to yield information on their physical, chemical and microbiological properties. The soils are cambisols from sandy substrate covering an eroded luvisol from bouder clay. The physical properties grow worse with increasing intensity of land use in the sequence of forest - garden - extensive agriculture - intensive agriculture. A well developed compacted plough layer was detected under intensitive agricultural management. The microbial activity was best in the hortisols because of their fertilization status.
